1.The Netflix Gamer
Stranger Things The Upside Down Board game
In this game, The town of Hawkins is under siege from the Upside Down! Hawkins, Indiana seems like an average town. However, underneath the exterior lurks a secret. The Hawkins National Laboratory has been doing experiments that have unleashed the horrors of the Upside Down. It’s up to the kids in the town to save it. In Stranger Things: Upside Down, players take on the role of the kids of Hawkins who are trying to stop the operatives of the Hawkins National Laboratory and the evils from the Upside Down. Players must work together to clear stacks of tokens before time runs out. The game includes a slew of fantastic figures representing the characters from the show. This is sure to please the Stranger Things Fans in your life while they await announcements of the final season!

Root & Everdell
This one is a bit of a cop out, as there will be two games listed here. It's cheating, I know but I couldn't decide which of the two games represented this gamer best.
First, in "Root" Players will fill the roles of opposing armies fighting over the woodland. Each army has a very different playstyle, and almost feels like an entirely different game. This game can be expanded on with plenty of expansions, including the "Clockwork" expansions that introduce solo and co op play.

On the more peaceful side of civilized woodland creatures, we have "Everdell".
Within the charming valley of Everdell, beneath the boughs of towering trees, among meandering streams and mossy hollows, a civilization of forest critters is thriving and expanding. From Everfrost to Bellsong, many a year have come and gone, but the time has come for new territories to be settled and new cities established. You will be the leader of a group of critters intent on just such a task. There are buildings to construct, lively characters to meet, events to host—you have a busy year ahead of yourself. Will the sun shine brightest on your city before the winter moon rises? This is a peaceful, light competitive game that is simple enough to learn for younger players, but complex enough to encourage healthy competition amongst more serious gamers.

3. The One Who Loves Spreadsheets
Twilight Inscription
I cannot tell you how happy I am that I finally tried this game out. My whole entire gamer life, I have always wanted to play Twilight Imperium. I just didn't have the time or enough interested friends to dedicate multiple days to it. With Twilight Inscription on the otherhand, reworks the game into a unique "Roll & Write" experience. You roll dice, record results, spend currency to embolden your empire or explore space, and more. This game can also be played solo. I have played multiple solo games at about an hour and a half a piece. I imagine this game would be absolutely wonderful with 3-6 people as well. There is something so satisfying about rolling dice and using the washable chalk markers to upgrade your empire. The game is definitely in the running for the Boxcat Game of the Year Award. Twilight Inscription, an epic roll-and-write game for one to eight players, offers an experience unlike anything Fantasy Flight Games has done before. With a limited pool of resources at your disposal, you’ll need to carefully manage Navigation, Expansion, Industry, and Warfare as you amass victory points and earn your right to the throne on Mecatol Rex. Will your faction become the new rulers of the galaxy? Or will your fledgling empire fade into obscurity? Anything can happen in this strategic, infinitely-replayable game!
